What the scan gives you
You paste two things. Your resume goes in the first box, either typed, pasted, or imported from a .txt or .md file. The posting you are about to answer goes in the second. Press Analyze Match and you get three answers back: a match score from 0 to 100, a list of terms the posting uses that your resume does not, and a short paragraph on what to change first.
The score is one reading of your resume against one posting. No employer ever sees it. A high score on one job and a low one on the next is normal, because the two postings ask for different things. Read the missing words before you read the number.
Why a resume gets rejected before anyone reads it
An applicant tracking system is mostly a filing cabinet with a search box. A recruiter opens it, searches the terms from the job requisition, and reads whoever comes back. If the posting says microservices and your resume says I split the monolith into services, you did the work and you still miss the search.
A vocabulary gap is one common reason a good resume goes quiet: the same work, described in other words. The missing keyword list is a picture of that gap for one specific job.
What to do with the missing keywords
- Only add what you have done. A word you cannot talk about for two minutes can cost you the phone screen. Drop it and let the score sit lower.
- Use the posting's spelling. If they wrote CI/CD and you wrote build pipelines, write both. Search boxes match strings, not meaning.
- Put them in the job bullets. A skills block at the bottom is easy to pad and easy to skim past. The bullet that says where and when you used the thing carries more.
- Ignore the ones about the company. The model is asked for tools, skills and qualifications, so a phrase like fast-paced rarely comes back. If one slips through, leave it out. Nobody searches for it.
- Run it again after the edit. Paste the new version back in with the same posting and see where the number lands.
Signing in, and where the text goes
The scan calls a paid model, so it needs an account. Fill both boxes, press Analyze Match, and a login window opens if you are not signed in yet. Sign in with Google, or with an email and a password. Whatever you already typed is held while you sign in, and the scan starts on its own when you land back on the page. The scan itself is free.
Both texts leave your browser. They go to this site's own API, which checks your session, then to a Supabase function, which passes them to Google's Gemini model for the reading. No step in that chain writes your resume to a database. This is not a browser-only tool, so paste with the same care you would use in any chat window.
Common questions
Do I need an account to run a scan?
Yes. Fill both boxes, press Analyze Match, and a login window opens if you are not signed in. You can use Google or an email and password, and the text you already typed is still there when you come back.
Can I upload a PDF resume?
No. The import button reads .txt, .md, .markdown and .rtf files. For a PDF or a Word file, open it, select everything, and paste the text into the resume box.
Is my resume stored anywhere?
No. Your resume and the job description go to this site's API, then to a Supabase function, then to Google's Gemini model for the reading. No step in that chain saves them to a database. The text does leave your browser, so it is not the place for anything you would not paste into a chat window.
What counts as a good score?
The model is asked to give 80 and up when the resume carries most of what the posting wants, 60 to 79 when a few important things are missing, and under 40 when the resume is aimed at a different job. A low number on one posting says nothing about your resume in general.
